Meet Tim Bush
Location: Seattle (Ballard)
Company: Outdoor Emporium
Favorite local water to fish: Area 10/Puget Sound
How long have you been on with Fetha Styx? One year
How long have you been a guide? Never
Describe yourself in 10 words or less…: Creative, hard worker, accountable, good listener and communicator, friendly.
A little bio/blurb about yourself (tell us your history): Born in Coeur d’Lane ID, moved to Seattle at age eight, lived all over the Seattle region. I grew up every summer in American Falls, ID on my grandparents farm and learned how to fish on the Snake River and American Falls Reservoir for trout, etc. I grew up fishing for salmon as a teenager in Ballard, learning to drift mooch herring around Shilshole Bay and West Point. I took lessons from Tom Nelson (Salmon University) about 17 years ago before it was Salmon University. It was out of his basement in the Skyway neighborhood back then. I learned many techniques and downrigger trolling for salmon, which is my specialty.
Why did you choose to be apart of the Fetha Styx Pro-Staff team? Because it’s the best!
Rod of choice? 9.5ft. downrigger (FSDR)
Saltwater vs. Freshwater? I prefer the Puget Sound saltwater experience because once you make it past the launch, it’s pretty wide open…at least compared to the crowed rivers.
Best Fishing experience with a Fetha Styx rod? Last year catching a couple 20-plus pound blackmouth in November at Shilshole Bay.
Favorite Fish Species? Chinook salmon
Favorite lure? Silver Horde Spoons
What’s your most productive technique for your fish of choice? Downrigger trolling.
What have you been up to lately? Very busy at work. I’m the fishing manager at Outdoor Emporium I’m getting in stock for the bass, trout and upcoming salmon season.
Any personal/professional question (or content) that you would want readers to know about you? I grew up playing the drums/percussion all my life and specialize in electronic drumming. Although I don’t perform currently, I could easily get right back into it. (Be careful for what I ask for/it takes a huge commitment to play with others in a band.) I don’t like dark bars and staying up very late anymore. If I can get up early in the morning to go fishing, I know I’m doing good in life.
